Wedding Photographer Apulia – An Apulian Love Spell – In our experience as a wedding photographers, many of the destination weddings in Italy are of couples who actually proposed and got engaged here in Italy, while on holidays. Ours is a country so filled with romanticism and passion, with unbearable beauty and enchanting colours, flavours, and tastes, that it is too difficult not to succumb to its love spells!
Our inspiration for this session was an authentic, Mediterranean, intense, love story. We teamed up with one of our favourite wedding Planners, Chiara Sciuto, and we decided to create a wedding that in all its details reflected the memories of that magical Italian summer vacation in which the couple fell in love: a romantic Apulian Masseria, with it’s ancient tiles and vivid colors, the cactus and grape fruit trees under which so many kisses were exchanged, the strong smell of the countryside flowers, the romantic sunsets on the beach, and the handwritten love letters that were inevitably written afterwards.
From the wedding planner:
“I chose Masseria Montenapoleane, one of the most elegant luxury hotels in Apulia, because it’s a venue full of history and culture, with its infinite series of authentic details and splendours. The creative guideline I followed was to build on the local traditions, and mix them with a colourful Mediterranean style.
At the heart of the creative concept are the cementine, the traditional hand painted tiles, rich in colours, geometries, and uniqueness. The search for authenticity had me opting for a rough floral setting, in the same color palette of the cementine: turquoise, green, mustard, and cognac, and a touch of light dusty pink. The juicy grapefruits, with their intense flavour and gorgeous textures, gave the final touch.
The table setting is gloriously rich of flowers, fruits, wooden candels, gold bordered glasses and champagne flutes, to remind of that special intimate picnic immersed in a flower field, when the couple exchanged it’s first promise of love. I used the cementine, each one unique, to form place mats; the personalized nameplates made out of typical local fondant cookies, recall the shape of the cementine.
I wanted the symbolic ceremony to remind of the secret kisses, so I staged it in an intimate corner of the Masseria, with its walls decorated by the traditional cactus leaves and fruits.
All the stationary was designed and hand written by a calligraphist, to recreate the mood and romance of the old love letters.
Finally, the bride and groom. Vintage, understated elegance: these were the attributes I worked on when opting for a light make-up and the simple, retro-chic dress designed by Laure de Sagazan, to create a bride similar to the muses of Godard or Gainsbourg, with hair blowing gently in the wind.
All these exquisite details come together to recreate an alfresco of that romantic Italian summer, immersed in a beautiful, and yet uncontaminated land, rich in culture and traditions, which is Apulia”.
